I have a 10-year-old home that is fairly well insulated. It has a high-efficiency LP furnace with A/C. I am considering putting in a geothermal system using my furnace as "back up". I have already registered with Focus. Are there any incentives for installing this system?
We have a Cash-Back Reward and there may be tax incentives.
Focus on Energy does offer a Cash-Back Reward for geothermal systems provided they meet the following requirements.
- Installed in a participating Wisconsin electric utility territory
- 15 EER or Greater
- COP of 3.3 or higher for a closed loop system, COP of 3.6 or higher for an open looped system
- Air handler (or furnace back up) must have an ECM blower motor
- Two stage compressor
- No electric resistance heat may be used for either auxiliary or emergency heat
In addition, there may be federal tax incentives to install this type of system . I would suggest visiting the Tax Incentives Assistant Project Web site to learn more. This Web site has information that consumers and businesses need to make use of the federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies.
Please visit focusonenergy.com/incentives for the latest incentives and requirements, as Focus offers are subject to change.
