What makes a Focus on Energy New Home different from other homes?

Focus on Energy New Homes are built following strict guidelines.

Focus on Energy New Homes  are built following strict guidelines for energy efficiency and mechanical system safety, which means you will have a more durable and comfortable home. This is accomplished when your builder works in conjunction with a consultant who partners with the Focus on Energy New Homes program.

The consultant is not an employee of your builder, which means you can think of them as an unbiased set of eyes reviewing your home at three key points during the building process—at the framing stage, after insulation has been installed but before the drywall goes up and after the home is finished. At the final visit, the consultant working with your builder tests the finished home to make sure it passes strict air-tightness and ventilation tests before it is certified. Verifying that the home passes these tests ensures the homeowner is moving into a safe, energy efficient home with systems in place to help improve indoor air quality.
