Does Focus on Energy consider geothermal to be renewable or non-renewable?
The system doesn’t rely solely on renewable energy to work.
We do consider ground-source (geothermal) heat pumps, as an efficient way to use electricity for heating and cooling. We do not classify them as a renewable energy source because the system will require a significant amount of electricity and/or gas for compressor operation, fan operation, and backup heat.
