What are the current energy problems Wisconsin has?

There are a lot of opinions on energy problems.

As one might expect, there are probably a lot of different opinions on the key current energy problems Wisconsin has. We recommend a good place to better understand the range of current energy issues facing Wisconsin is the recent Strategic Energy Assessment (SEA) issued by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC). The SEA is developed after soliciting comments from utilities and business, consumer and environmental interveners at the Commission as well as the general public. Thus, it provides access to the various perspectives of a wide group of informed and interested persons.

In the most recent SEA, the Commission highlighted three key issues:

  1. the potential implications of global warming;
  2. the potential move toward federalization of the electric system and
  3. how to effectively address increasing energy costs.

The recent SEA is available for review or download on the PSC Web site.
