How much can I expect to save on my gas bill after insulating my attic and walls with dense-pack cellulose?

There are many variables that determine the savings.

There are many variables that determine what the savings would be from insulating your attic and dense-packing your wall cavities.

Energy savings are influenced by how much insulation was added to the existing level(s). The area to be insulated (in square feet) is another factor. The efficiency of your heating system also comes into the equation. Your location determines the number of Heating Degree Days (the further north – more heating degree days) and is another factor in determining potential energy savings.

One of the best ways to help calculate potential savings would be to have a home energy evaluation conducted on your home by a consultant partnering with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®. This computer-based evaluation would take into consideration the above mentioned parameters (and others) to calculate savings and payback information for installing conservation measures such as attic insulation and dense-packed cellulose for your sidewalls.

The easiest way to get started is to call Focus on Energy at 800-762-7077 and request an information packet for the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program be mailed to you. This packet will include a variety of fact sheets regarding energy efficiency and one that describes the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. You will also receive a listing of participating utilities and consultants throughout the state.
