I've been seeing ads for space heaters designed like fireplaces that can cut my heating costs by as much as 50%. The fireplaces cost a few hundred dollars. Is the energy savings worth the investment?
In most cases, heating with natural gas or propane is cheaper than heating with electricity.
In most cases the cost for heating with natural gas or propane is significantly less than the cost of heating with electric space heaters, like the one you mentioned. Using the space heater as a supplemental heat source in a cold area of the home or to keep an individual comfortable without making others in the home too hot can be effective, but it will not save money.
