I live in a apartment that is about 30 years old. My windows do not have proper seal. My landlord said I can still put tape on them. Is this a good thing to do?
Tape is only a temporary fix.
Windows that have a broken seal will have lost the bulk of their insulation value and should be repaired or replaced if necessary. Tape certainly won't damage a window in the condition described, but does not provide any insulation value. It merely provides a temporary barrier to stop a draft coming through the window.
