Look for the ENERGY STAR label!
Look for the ENERGY STAR label! To receive the ENERGY STAR, a product has to exceed the federal government's minimum standards for energy consumption and efficiency. When buying an appliance, remember that it has two price tags: what you pay to take it home and what you pay for the energy and water it uses. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use 10%–50% less energy and water than standard models.
Products that have earned the ENERGY STAR logo have the highest rating a product can earn for energy efficiency (translation: they're cheaper to use!). By using less energy, it reduces pollution and is better for the environment.
