What is the fuel cost difference between natural gas and LP gas?
Giving an answer is hard due to the flux of propane costs.
In most cases natural gas will be less expensive per btu than propane; however, given the volatility of propane costs over the last few years, it is hard to give a more definite answer. To find out the specific cost difference in your area, complete these quick calculations.
LP: Cost per gallon (from LP bill or LP company) ÷ 91,000 = cost per BTU*
Natural Gas: Cost per therm (from utility bill or utility company) ÷ 100,000 = cost per therm
* Gas heating equipment is sized in BTUs, or how much gas it takes to operate the equipment at full heat output.
