We want to do some remodeling to our rental, including replacing the HVAC system. Is the new oil-filled baseboard heat any more or less efficient than a gas furnace? The existing gas furnace is an old wall unit in the living room that heats the whole house.
If the baseboard heat is electric, then it’s more costly.
If the oil-filled baseboard heat is electric, then it is much more expensive to operate than even an older furnace. Electric heaters (strip heaters, oil filled , infrared) cost almost three times to operate as a natural gas furnace.
