Should we use an air to air exchanger in our new house?

This depends, read on…

Regarding the question whether it will pay to use an air-to-air exchanger; it depends on what you mean by the word pay. Air exchangers provide an excellent opportunity to control moisture levels and allow fresh air to be introduced into the home’s environment in a controlled fashion. They use electricity to operate the motor(s), but they temper the incoming air and moisture. Air-to-air exchangers are either heat recovery ventilators (HRV) or energy recovery ventilators (ERV). This website provides good information to help you learn about the differences between the two.
