Why doesn’t Focus on Energy support LED lights as a replacement for incandescent and CFL bulbs?

We are waiting for the DOE to come out with standards.

It is not that Focus on Energy doesn't support LED lighting. We want to promote consistent, high-quality products that meet customers' high expectations, and right now there are not many LED lights that meet our standards as feasible replacements for incandescent lamps.

The Department of Energy (DOE) is currently testing LED replacement lamps to see if they approximate or match desired characteristics of incandescent omnidirectional lamps, such as light output, distribution, correlated color temperature (CCT), and color rendering index (CRI). To date there are only a few LED products that provide the light output and characteristics of incandescent lamps while also offering significant potential energy savings.

Although Focus does not currently offer incentives on LED light bulbs, we do offer incentives on several LED fixtures, and we will continue to expand the list of eligible products as new, high-quality products become available.
