I am installing an in-ground pool at home. Are there incentives for solar heating the pool water?
No, but it is one of the most cost-effective solar options
Focus on Energy offers incentives for solar water heating in public pools only. But solar pool heating is one of the most cost-effective solar options out there, even without Focus or federal incentives. Seasonal pool heating systems consist of very simple components and usually can be connected to the regular pool pump (keep an eye out for a variable speed pump to save electricity). If it's an indoor pool and you need the heat year-round, consider a year-round system that first targets the domestic hot water load in the house, and then sends the heat off to the pool (or even the boiler or furnace). Focus would offer an incentive for the energy you could save on your domestic hot water bill from this type of system, but no other pool or space heating incentives are available for homes.
Please visit focusonenergy.com/incentives for the latest incentives and requirements, as Focus offers are subject to change.
