We own a building that is zoned commercial. We live on the second story. For tax purposes we claim only 1/3 of the building as commercial. If we wanted to remodel the living room in the residential portion of the building and replace the boiler which heats the whole building with an energy efficient boiler. Would we look to qualify for rebates and incentives under the residential or business sections?

Focus incentives depend on how your building is defined on your utility bill.

Great question. You'll need to dig out a copy of your utility bill. If your building has residential service as defined by your utility, you may apply for Focus on Energy residential incentives. If your building has commercial service as defined by your utility, you may apply for business incentives. If you have separate utility meters for the different parts of the building, you can apply through both programs, with those building systems on each type of utility service eligible for each respective program.

Please visit focusonenergy.com/incentives for the latest incentives and requirements, as Focus offers are subject to change.
