I just purchased a house from 1928 and I need more insulation in my attic. My sister is from Utah and told me of a program they have where they were reimbursed for the additional insulation they put in their attic. Does Wisconsin Public Service and/or Focus on Energy have an incentive such as this?
Focus on Energy does offer Cash-Back Rewards.
Focus on Energy does offer Cash-Back Rewards for installing a variety of insulation measures that includes attic insulation and much more. Please note that to be eligible for insulation Cash-Back Rewards; you must have a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR evaluation completed by a consultant who partners with Focus on Energy and you must use a heating fuel provided by a participating utility, such as Wisconsin Public Service.
In addition to evaluating the existing insulation levels throughout your home, the mechanical equipment (heating system, water heater, air conditioning, etc.,) doors & windows, a moisture assessment, the consultant will also conduct performance testing of your home’s shell to quantify and identify air leakage. Exhaust fans are also tested for their ability to effectively remove excess moisture and other pollutants. Following the in-home evaluation, a written report is provided to detail recommendations for your particular home. After improvements have been completed, your consultant will return (at no additional cost) to inspect the work that has been completed and will facilitate the paperwork for eligible Cash-Back Rewards. (Plus, until the end of the year, you may also be eligible for Federal Tax Incentives.) A check from Focus on Energy will be mailed to you following the processing of the paperwork. This packet will include a variety of fact sheets regarding energy efficiency and one that describes the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.
