I have a fairly large (1600 sqft) space added to my residence 25 years ago. It does have special air treatment requirements that were best served by avail. technology 25 yrs ago. One of many concerns today is heat loss to attic (winter) as well as efficiency of current air treatment equip. If you charge for a visit and evaluation, what is the cost?

Evaluations range in cost from about $300 to $400.

The typical cost for a consultant to provide a thorough in-home evaluation will range from about $300 to $400. This cost includes the initial three to four hour on-site visit to measure your home and conduct performance tests and evaluate other areas to include insulation levels throughout your home, the mechanical equipment (heating, cooling, water heating, and ventilation fans), windows & doors, and provide a moisture evaluation. It also includes combustion safety testing of any gas-fired appliances that are atmospherically vented.

Following the on-site evaluation, a detailed written report is prepared to provide you with recommendations for possible improvements. The fee also covers the return visit to re-test your home after improvements have been completed. Customers that receive gas and electricity from participating utilities are eligible for Cash-Back Rewards for certain improvements like adding insulation, reducing air leakage, installing qualified ventilation fans and more depending on what your home may need. Your consultant can advise you about which measures qualify. The consultant will also facilitate the Cash-Back Rewards paperwork on your behalf.
