We are installing a new energy-efficient air conditioner and furnace. We also plan to have our house air-sealed and improve the insulation in the house. Will the Home Performance Program cover these improvements and will it be retroactive?

Yes, please read on.

Currently, there are Cash-Back Rewards available from Focus on Energy for qualifying furnaces and air-conditioning units. These rewards are available to you whether you have a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® evaluation or not. Your HVAC contractor can take care of the Cash-Back reward paperwork for you.

In order to qualify for air sealing and insulation Cash-Back Rewards from Focus on Energy, you must have a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® evaluation conducted on your home by a program consultant or qualified contractor, install the qualifying measures, and have a post-test completed by the consultant or qualified contractor. At the time of the post-test, your consultant or qualified contractor will prepare the necessary reward application on your behalf and forward it to Focus on Energy for processing. You will need to provide proof of purchase (receipts) to accompany the reward application. A Cash-Back Reward check will then be mailed to you within an appropriate time frame.
